When Castone Construction brought us into the Supplements King location in Bradford, the challenge wasn’t just about installing a floor - it was about aligning performance with brand identity in a high-traffic retail environment.
The space started with a raw concrete slab, which, while structurally sound, lacked the essential qualities required for a finished commercial setting. The surface showed minor imperfections, inconsistent texture, and no protective layer, making it vulnerable to dusting, staining, and long-term wear. In a retail environment where daily foot traffic, product movement, and spills are constant, untreated concrete quickly becomes both a maintenance issue and a visual drawback.
But beyond performance, the bigger challenge was aesthetic alignment.
Supplements King locations are designed to feel clean, modern, and high-energy - a space that reflects health, performance, and brand consistency. A dull, unfinished floor would immediately undermine that experience. Castone needed a solution that could deliver:
This wasn’t just about coating concrete - it was about creating a floor that could perform under pressure while elevating the entire retail environment.
To meet both the functional and visual demands of the project, we installed a multi-layer metallic epoxy flooring system engineered specifically for commercial retail applications.
The process began with mechanical surface preparation using diamond grinding, removing surface contaminants and opening the concrete pores to create the proper profile for adhesion. This step is critical in ensuring the coating system bonds correctly and performs long-term without failure.
Next, we completed targeted crack repair and surface refinement, eliminating imperfections and creating a smooth, uniform substrate. This ensured the final finish would be both visually clean and structurally sound.
We then applied a 100% solids tinted epoxy basecoat, installed at the correct thickness to provide:
With the foundation in place, we introduced the defining element of the system — the metallic epoxy layer. Using controlled flow techniques, the coating was manipulated to create a fluid, three-dimensional finish with movement and depth. This high-gloss, reflective surface not only enhances lighting within the space but delivers the bold, modern aesthetic expected from the Supplements King brand.
To complete the system, a satin polyurethane topcoat was applied. This final layer provides:
