Epoxy Boss has two free online cost tools for Ontario floors. The floor coating cost calculator shows an instant, pre-tax price range in six steps, with no contact details needed. The garage floor calculator takes four steps and sends your details to our team for a personalized quote. This guide walks through each step, explains how to measure your floor, and shows how to read the number you get, so the estimate on your screen is as close as possible to the written quote that follows.
Which calculator should you use?
- Want a number right now? Use the floor coating cost calculator. It covers residential garages, porches and patios, indoor rooms such as basements, and commercial spaces. You see an estimated price range on the last step, and sharing your contact information is optional.
- Want a person to look at your garage? Use the garage floor calculator. You choose the size, the system and any repairs, then leave your details, and one of our flooring specialists contacts you with a personalized quote.
Many people do both: they check the range first, then send the garage form with photos.
Step by step: the floor coating cost calculator
Step 1: Project type
Choose Residential (garages, basements and patios) or Commercial (retail, offices and facilities).
Step 2: Project area
For homes, pick Garage (attached or detached), Porch / patio (sunrooms, pool decks, gazebos and concrete pads) or Indoor (basements, kitchens, mudrooms and mechanical rooms).
Step 3: Choose your system
The two main choices are the flake system, our top recommendation because it is durable, hides dirt well and is easy to repair, and the solid colour system, the budget option with a clean, seamless look for light to moderate use.
Step 4: Dimensions
Pick a preset garage size or enter your own dimensions. You can also add vertical application if you want concrete walls, baseboards or cove base coated. Entering your own measured area gives a closer estimate than a preset (see how to measure below).
Step 5: Floor preparation and repairs
Only tick these if your floor is not in fair condition. Hairline cracks are already included in standard preparation. The options are:
- Cracks and slab damage patching: wider cracks filled with polymer crack fillers. See crack repair before coating.
- Salt damage and pitting repair: patching and resurfacing pits caused by road salt and freeze-thaw cycles, common near Ontario garage doors.
- Old coating and adhesive removal: diamond grinding to strip paint, failed sealer, tile mastic, carpet glue or failed epoxy.
- Oil and moisture contamination: deep degreasing or a moisture vapour barrier primer for oil-soaked or damp slabs.
Step 6: Your instant estimate
You get an estimated price range for the system you chose, with a summary of your selections. From there you can call us, submit a request, or simply keep the number for your own planning.
How to measure your floor in five minutes
- Measure wall to wall at the longest and widest points, then multiply for the area in square feet.
- For an L-shaped garage or a bump-out, split the floor into rectangles and add them up.
- Include any step-down, landing or storage area you want coated.
- Note stairs, columns, floor drains and long door thresholds. These add detail work beyond the flat area.
- Take one photo of each wall and one of the door edge. Photos help us confirm the size and the condition together.
How to read your estimate
The number on screen is a preliminary, non-binding ballpark. It is worth understanding what it assumes:
- Standard preparation. The range is calculated for standard mechanical surface preparation on sound, level concrete of normal hardness.
- Before tax. All estimates are pre-tax. Written quotes are in Canadian dollars.
- Confirmed on site. Moisture testing or a hardness check may be needed after we see the slab. If the floor needs a moisture vapour barrier primer, specialized tooling or extra repair, the price is adjusted and explained in writing.
In practice, the estimate is closest to the final quote when you enter a measured area and tick the repair options honestly. The bigger differences usually come from what is under an old coating, which is why we check the slab before we commit to a system. Our guide to garage floor coating cost in Ontario explains each cost driver in detail.
Using the calculator to plan, not just to price
- Compare systems. Run the same floor once with flake and once with solid colour to see the difference before you decide.
- See the cost of waiting. Run it with and without salt damage repair. Pitting spreads each winter, so fixing it early keeps the scope smaller.
- Budget a larger job. Property managers and contractors can use the commercial path to set a first budget before a site visit.
- Pick a look. Try the floor visualizer to see flake and solid colours on a photo of your own floor.
Why we put our pricing online
Most people want a rough number before they book a visit. We would rather show the range openly and explain what changes it than ask you to wait for a call. The calculator does not replace an assessment; it makes the first conversation faster and more useful for both sides.
Where we work
Epoxy Boss is based in Innisfil and installs floors across the GTA, York Region, Simcoe County, Halton, Durham and Muskoka. Browse our Ontario service areas to find your town.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to give my email to see a price?
No. The floor coating cost calculator shows the range without asking for contact details. Sharing them at the end is optional. The garage floor calculator does ask for your details, because it sends your project to our team for a personalized quote.
Is the online estimate my final price?
No. It is a starting point based on standard installation conditions. Your written quote follows an assessment of the slab.
Are hairline cracks included?
Yes. Hairline cracks are part of standard preparation. Wider cracks, salt pitting, old coating removal and contamination are priced as preparation or repair.
Can I use it for a basement or patio?
Yes. Choose Residential, then Indoor for basements and similar rooms, or Porch / patio for outdoor concrete.
